Skate For Life Seminars
Skate for Life is hosting two seminars on June 27th before the show, a dance seminar taught by Sara Von Gillern and Gev Manouklan and a skating seminar taught by Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov.
Dance Seminar
Spend an hour learning some dance moves from the best of the best! “So You Think You Can Dance” finalists Sara Von Gillern and Gev Manouklan will be teaching an hour-long dance seminar prior to the Skate For Life show. The seminar is scheduled from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on June 27th at the Hoover Arena. Sara and Gev will be teaching Hip Hop dancing featuring locking, popping, and breaking.

Skating Seminar
Internationally top-ranked figure skaters, Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov, have created a unique instructional ice skating seminar, Skating Skills and Artistry, that is now being offered to you at the Hoover Arena before the Skate For Life ice show. This seminar offers skaters of all levels an opportunity to learn and improve skating skills under their guidance. In addition, we focus on using the sport of ice skating as a tool to develop and strengthen students’ technical and artistic skills. The seminar will focus on:
- Basic Technique
- Bio mechanics Footwork
- Dynamics of Blade and Edge Control
- Power Skating
- Style and Choreography
